The girls session at Exist has moved from the last Tuesday of each month to the first Saturday of every month. Exist started the monthly girls session in May 2014 and it has been monthly on a Tuesday evening up until now. The first Saturday evening instantly proved the move from Tuesday was a great idea and we are sticking with it. Thanks to all the girls who showed up for the new slot, it was awesome!! The next session is on Saturday 4th November at 5pm. It’s free entry so see you there!!!
On Saturday we took Ione and Naiomi who are both Exist skatepark regulars up to St Albans to the amazing Girl Jam
The Girl Skate Jam has been running annually for 15 years at The Pioneer Skatepark in St Albans. It is organised by Jenna Selby who also runs Rogue skateboards.
Ione won the under 10′s competition and Naiomi won the Under 18′s!!! Both girls skate at the monthly Exist Girls skate session and we are planning to go to more girls skate events in the future so come along to the skatepark for more info and rad times. The girls only skate sessions at Exist skatepark are once a month and always on the last Tuesday of the month. June’s session is Tuesday 27th June between 4 and 7pm so see you there!
Check out the excellent girlskateuk for more info on the female skate scene nationally and look out for more events for girl skaters!
Community Urban Sports Project is based at Exist skatepark in Swansea, Wales. It is a not for profit organisation and has been running an outreach programme. We take portable ramps to local schools and youth projects and run taster sessions in skateboarding, scooting and B.M.X.
We made a short video explaining the project and talked to some of the people involved, hopefully we can continue and visit more schools next year.
The Skin Phillips online auction finishes this evening at 9pm!! Follow the link to see the remaining prints and make your bid. All money raised from the sale of Skin’s work goes straight to CUSP/Exist skatepark which is a not for profit organisation and needs all the help it can get to keep open. Skin donated a huge body of his work last year for the charity auction in Swansea in December. These prints are the ones that got away and didn’t get sold on the night. Each one is a piece of skateboard history and an original print unavailable elsewhere so get on it and help the park and yourself by getting one of your own!
