Huge thanks to everyone who supported the annual Sponsored Skate This event makes a huge difference to the survival of Exist skatepark every summer. Taking part in any way wether that is skating the 6 miles along the seafront, sponsoring a skater, turning up and giving your time to make the event happen helps keep Exist open. The summer months are traditionally quieter for an indoor skatepark as everyone wants to be skating outside but the bills still need to be paid. The Sponsored Skate and other events ensure the park is still there when everyone needs it during the wet winter months. Thanks everyone, it is your generosity with time and money that is guaranteeing the survival of the skatepark!!!
This years Sponsored Skate will be on Sunday 9th July at 2pm. Sponsorship forms and all the details are at Exist skatepark. Get some sponsorship and turn up at 2 and skate from Blackpill to the Civic Centre and back, prizes along the way!!
The video is from the Sponsored Skate in 2015, let’s make it bigger this year!!
A big night at Exist on Saturday 3rd June 2017. Come down at 7pm, pay £3 safe in the knowledge the money made will go direct to the skatepark. For this you will also get 4 amazing bands, one awesome DJ and all the skateboarding you can manage….there is also a bar!! See you there, support your local skatepark and some excellent local music.
The sponsored skate was one of last years highlights for the skatepark so we have decided to do it again this year. It will be on Sunday 12th June. Take a look at last years video and head down to the skatepark for a sponsor form. The money raised will help the skatepark remain open during the summer, fund renovation costs, enable us to keep the facilities smooth and fresh and also there will be a donation to LATCH the Welsh Children’s Cancer Charity.
Also there will be a big pile of prizes for challenges along the way…..12th June 2016, watch the Facebook page for updates!!
Saturday 26th March between 1 and 4 pm, Unloved Heritage is a skateboard treasure hunt around the skate spots in Swansea city centre. Free to everyone. Meet at Exist skatepark at 1pm, skate the spots and learn about their history. Videos will be made that will then be shown on our website so bring a board and your best tricks and be ready to shred!!
Skin Phillips held an exhibition and auction of his work in Swansea on Friday 4th December 2015. The money raised from the sale of his prints all went to help Exist skatepark to continue operating. Skin is originally from Swansea and was a major part in getting the legendary Morfa vert ramp built in Swansea in the late 80′s. He went on to document the U.K. skateboard scene for R.A.D. magazine and then on to the U.S. to become editor of Transworld skateboarding magazine. He is now team manager of the Adidas skateboarding team. His photographs span from the early 80′s in Swansea to front covers of Transworld mag and iconic images of some of the best known skateboarders in the world. All of this was on show in Swansea and it was a great opportunity to take home a piece of skateboarding history.
On Sunday the action moved to the skatepark and a big session went down with a couple of members of the Adidas team and locals like Welsh Tommy shredding the recently updated section of the street course. Alec Majerus and Blondey Mccoy skated with the Swansea skaters for well over 2 hours and then gave out hundreds of pounds worth of boards, shoes and clothes to the sold out skatepark. An awesome weekend which has secured the future of the skatepark thanks to everyones generosity and support in attending the weekends events, thanks so much for all your support!!
